Workout Room DIY - Basement Remodel (part 1)
The basement remodel has begun, it is a little overwhelming thinking about all 900 sq feet. So, I am focusing on one room at a time. The first room on the list is a new work out room.First step (as always) taking out all the old, to make room for the new! There was 30 year old carpet that was fun to rip up. All I have to say is, always wear a mask, and thank God for shopvacs. The exterior facing wall was never finished so I started my construction with 1 inch foam insulation with a built-in vapor barrier and some 1x2 firing strips.I used liquid nails on the back of the foam insulation to secure a snug connection to the exterior wall. Then used 3″ concrete screws to secure the furring strips.
Next I wanted to add an electrical outlet on the exterior wall so I overlapped vertical furring strips on top of the horizontal ones to leave room to run the electric wires (make sure to always turn the power off to the circuit you are working on).
